Bio
...well, being dragged kicking and pouting into the world of online 'social networking' does have its advantages. besides, i always wanted to be a writer. the journal is mostly for me. but if there are parts you can see, there's a reason for it.

i am a quiet, friendly, artsy type who likes to go with the flow and take life as it comes. i like being spontaneous and goofy. i am spiritual but not religious, i believe in being a good person, in the Wiccan Rede "as it harms none, do what you will" and finding magic in the ordinary... a moment, a person, an object, everything has some magical quality. i love nature, the outdoors, the beach, god i could never live far from the beach. though i do appreciate a good mountain landscape too. i'm a dork and a klutz but that's made me really good at falling down without hurting myself, and being able to laugh about it :)

"Life is like art. You have to work hard to keep it simple and still have meaning."
-Charles de Lint

"There is no enlightenment outside of daily life."
-Thich Nhat Hanh

The leaves fall patiently
Nothing remembers or grieves
The river takes to the sea
The yellow drift of leaves.
- Sara Teasdale

The wind gives me
Enough fallen leaves
To make a fire

Storm Warnings
The glass has been falling all the afternoon,
And knowing better than the instrument
What winds are walking overhead, what zone
Of grey unrest is moving across the land,
I leave the book upon a pillowed chair
And walk from window to closed window, watching
Boughs strain against the sky

And think again, as often when the air
Moves inward toward a silent core of waiting,
How with a single purpose time has traveled
By secret currents of the undiscerned
Into this polar realm. Weather abroad
And weather in the heart alike come on
Regardless of prediction.

Between foreseeing and averting change
Lies all the mastery of elements
Which clocks and weatherglasses cannot alter.
Time in the hand is not control of time,
Nor shattered fragments of an instrument
A proof against the wind; the wind will rise,
We can only close the shutters.

I draw the curtains as the sky goes black
And set a match to candles sheathed in glass
Against the keyhole draught, the insistent whine
Of weather through the unsealed aperture.
This is our sole defense against the season;
These are the things we have learned to do
Who live in troubled regions.
